The Castle on the Hill

Have you ever visited Toronto’s most historic landmark?

For many of us whom have visited Toronto before can most likely say that there is so much to do in such a large city. From visiting the iconic CN Tower, to a wide range of museums, restaurants, and shops it is sometimes easy to miss the Castle of Toronto also referred to as “Casa Loma”.

Just recently we visited Casa Loma for the first time. Quite honestly, it never really occurred to us that Casa Loma is one of North America’s enhancing tourist attractions, the home to many weddings and events and even place where many television shows and movies have been filmed.

Our initial reactions and thoughts:

By all means we did not expect Casa Loma to be such a large attraction until we arrived. It almost felt like we were living in an entirely different era, like the Shakespeare times. The way the Castle is situated within a neighbourhood of older homes, did not make it feel like we were in Toronto. Personally, the pictures does not do justice. Just looking at the castle and its spectacular detail made us even more excited to enter and take a tour.

Our experience inside Casa Loma:

Touring the spectacular Castle:

Casa Loma offers a guided tour which enables visitors to listen to all the details. The Castle is extensively large and the is so much history behind this landmark, that has been preserved for centuries. This is definitely the perfect place for families and such an eye opening experience about what life was really like during the 1400s.

From our personal standpoint, we decided to take our own tour around the Castle. This allowed us to enjoy the entire experience by visually admiring all the historic details and artifacts.

*Wellness Tip:

Whenever you get the chance to visit anything new and exciting, it is exceptionally important to live in the present moment. Don’t rush the experience. Yes, we all get a little carried away with taking pictures but, sometimes if we make taking all these pictures our major focus, it tends to take away from enjoying and embracing the moment.

Our favourite spot at Casa Loma

Looking back and reflecting on our experience by far our favourite spot was the Garden Terrace. This is the area located at the back of the castle. At this spot there is a beautiful water fountain alongside many flowers, shrubs that truly sets the mood for the rest of the castle.

But, that’s not all, the way the castle is situated on a hill overlooking the Toronto skyline was breathtaking. The CN tower is in the perfect place to view from afar. If you never really conceptualized how large Toronto was and the extent to which it expands close to Lake Ontario, then you’ve got to check out Casa Loma.

If you are looking to do something unique and totally out of the ordinary, than you should totally check out Casa Loma! This experience can most certainly provide a change in scenery and chance to learn something new!
