Welcome to twinlife!

Hello everyone! Our names are Ashley and Breanna Bolliger and we are identical twin sisters from Canada. Throughout our entire lives, we have literally accomplished everything together and have supported one another every step of the way. We enjoy exploring places, studying, playing music, playing sports and cooking together. We are the type of twins that just love each other’s company and have never treated anything as a competition.

Our Story

Both of us have recently earned Honours Bachelor of Science degrees in Kinesiology from McMaster University. Throughout this academic journey, we have become more knowledgable and passionate about healthy active living and wellness. But, as students, we can honestly say that finding ways to address our mental health effectively and successfully has not been an easy path. At times, we have experienced frustrating moments and sometimes believed that we’d never be able to achieve our wellness goal of obtaining a “balanced lifestyle”. But, with an open, optimistic mindset and a motivated attitude we have grown to develop a passion for finding ways of addressing our mental health concerns throughout our daily lives.

Our Purpose

Addressing mental health is an important topic that many of us seem to shy away from. For some of us, mental health may not even be our top priority in our daily lives. The truth is, we never want to talk about or take the appropriate time to ask for assistance at the right moment because we feel afraid or even embarrassed to face our weaknesses. Instead, we often wait to seek help for our mental health concerns when it becomes a bigger health crisis.

The following stats may even surprise you:

Higher proportions of younger adults screened positive for depression and anxiety between fall 2020 and spring 2021 (1).

In a given year, 1 in 5 people in Canada will personally experience a mental health problem or illness (2).

Mental health can affect all of us, but the real question is: “How can we address and cope with our mental health?”

We have created this wellness blog with the intension of sharing our personal life stories, events and experiences that have continued to shape us into becoming more mindful individuals. We are devoted to helping all of you create and pave your own path towards wellness. We want to remove the negative stigma from mental health and promote the importance of everyone making their mental health a #1 priority.

For all our readers, it is important to understand that your wellness journey is personalized and tailored to you. There is no right or wrong towards “how” you become a more mindful person.

All you need is an open mind and the commitment to learn and grow. By taking small steps each day, you will begin to notice how resilient you have become to conquer life’s daily challenges.

Today is the day you begin your wellness journey.
